We love foiling and want to make the sport more accessible to everyone. That's why we created Foil Mates. Foil Mates is an app that helps you find the best foiling spots while you're on the go, connect with new people, and see where other foilers are currently riding. Share where you'll be foiling next so others can meet you and track your progress. The app shows you foiling schools and shops, and even lets you rate the spots you visit. We're just getting started, but with your help, we can improve the app and make the foiling experience even better. We have so many more ideas in the pipeline.
Find the best foil spots
Ever found yourself on vacation, searching for the perfect foiling spot? Or maybe when you first started, you didn't know where to begin? We’ve been there too. That’s why with Foil Mates, we're gathering foiling spots from around the globe. We’re starting with pump foiling, and soon we’ll include other foil sports as well.
See who is foiling where
You’re familiar with this too. Five people end up messaging each other to figure out who’s where and when. It’s a hassle and wastes time. Forget that. Just check Foilmates to see who’s going where and when, and decide if you want to join. If the spot seems too crowded, you can skip it. It’s that simple.
Keep an eye on your buddies
Being solo at the dock can get pretty dull. There’s no one to chat with, no one to help if something goes wrong, and no one to share tips or ideas with. That’s why Foil Mates lets you keep track of your friends. Imagine closing your computer at lunchtime and heading out to surprise your Foil Mate who’s already at the dock!
Share your favourite spot
Yep, we need your help. Share the foiling spots you know in your area. In return, you'll get access to spots shared by others, helping us build a vibrant Foil Mates community. You might even earn credits for the spots you upload in the future—though we’re still working on that. For now, you’ll get the satisfaction of contributing and maybe a bit of local fame!
Find schools and shops
Nothing’s worse than breaking a wing and not knowing where to replace it. And as a beginner, you might wish for a teacher who can guide you to your first foiling experiences. That’s why we list schools and shops on the map. If you run a school or shop and want to be featured on Foil Mates, let us know!
And why the peguin?
Penguins are very likable, and like us, they can't fly. Evolution didn't favor them in that way. However, they are the fastest birds in the water. Where we come from, winter is the best season for pumpfoiling. In sub-zero temperatures, we waddle over icy docks in thick neoprene suits, just like penguins.
